Performance at A-Level

This page provides the relevant examination outcomes at A level, allowing us to compare the performance of selective and non-selective schools.

Percentage of students achieving 3 A*/A grades or better at A level or Applied single/double award A Level:

  • Comprehensive schools – 7.6%
  • Selective schools (state) – 25.7%

Percentage of students achieving grades AAB or better at A level or Applied single/double award A level:

  • Comprehensive 13.7%
  • Selective (state) 38.6%

Percentage students achieving A and A* grades at A level:

  • Comprehensive
    • ‘A’ grade – 6.1%
    • ‘A*’ grade – 14.7%
  • Selective (state)
    • ‘A’ grade – 13.9%
    • ‘A*’ grade – 26.9%
