BILL KENNEDY, who has died aged 97, was the former headmaster of Kirkham Grammar School in Lancashire and a member of a distinguished pedagogic family.
His great-uncle was Benjamin Hall Kennedy, the great 19th-century headmaster of Shrewsbury, the cover of whose Kennedy’s Revised Shorter Latin Primer has been defaced by generations of schoolboys to read “Kennedy’s Revised Shortbread Eating Primer”.
